For my Workin’ On It Wednesday I have been working on quilting the jelly roll quilt. Today I will start making binding strips.
I am on week 8 of Couch To 5K but getting a little unmotivated to finish the last week which is only due to lack of time! I will finish, I will finish, I will finish.
I did pull out this…
After neglecting the ukulele practice for probably a month, I took it out, blew the dust off and started up again. I also ordered a new book to learn from so I would have a different perspective on it and some new music to try. It’s not easy but it’s do-able. I really want to be able to play a song or two before the big Hawaii trip in August! My quild friend and fellow blogger, Linda, motivates me to no end on learning the ukulele. She has a wonderful blog and is always doing something fun and quilty and artsy and usually with her grandkids. Check her blog out, you won’t be sorry.

Last week was solely focused on getting the kids through many, many rehearsals for their music school’s end of year shows. There were two shows and the total length combined was 9.5 hours…yup..9.5 hours in a non air conditioned school auditorium with hard wooden seats…how much do we love our children? Lots. We all survived. Leah was the smart one and brought a small pillow to sit on. I think she could make those next year and sell them and make a huge profit!!! LOL. I am sorry to say though that after sitting for that long, the pain in my hip and that had all but disappeared is back. Boo hoo. But…..the shows were fabulous. Awards were won. Pictures taken. Parents proud. Teacher’s even more proud. It was glorious. Really. Truly. Here are some pics…
Lindsey as the beggar in Fiddler On The Roof review
Amanda on keys in her Monday Armada rock ensemble…
Amanda playing the piano accompaniment in the pit where she spent most of her time in both shows and where she loves to be and where she really shines-and yes, she looks that cool, calm and collected all the while she plays…
Amanda’s hands and her teacher’s hands as they team up to play piano for the bunch of kids playing guitars to the song “If I Dye Young”…
Lindsey getting ready to perform her solo, “Tornado”. She did a fabulous job despite the nerves. This girl’s voice has grown in so many ways over the years. I can’t wait to hear more from her…
Scene from Fiddler…an outstanding job by an outstanding cast…
Amanda becoming the first recipient of the Normma Giustianni Musical Excellence Chair Scholarship Award…a mouthful…but a meaningful one. Normma is a famous soloist and we are so proud of Amanda for receiving this award.
The run down of the awards for my girls…
Amanda – scholarship, high honors flute, high honors piano, heavy metal award (award for going above and beyond)
Lindsey – high honors voice, outstanding vocalist award, most dedicated student award
Proud? Doesn’t even cover it.
So now I’m recovered which sounds ridiculous seeing as I didn’t play or run the show…lol. I think it’s my nerves that are recovered…the getting kids there and back, the making sure Grammy and Leah are ok, fed and not too uncomfortable, the figuring out how to feed everyone when you only have a few minutes between shows…that sorta thing. Oh…and the music quilt I made was won by my neighbor who has a musically talented niece who will now receive that as a Christmas gift…
If you live locally, this is the website for the Filedheacht Music School…they teach just about everything!
