Winding up school vaca week

It’s truly amazing how much more you can enjoy a school vacation when you don’t try to plan to accomplish anything for yourself! LOL! I’m usually not a big fan of April vacation because it comes too close on the heels of February vacation and half days for conferences but this time around, I really enjoyed it. The girls were having fun with each other which makes all the difference in the world. We tried Letterboxing which worked out to some degree in the sense that we got out for a walk around a cool place but the boxes weren’t there! Letterboxing is where you look up on the national index where letterboxes are hidden (ususally a park or another public, nice location) and you use the provided clues to find the box. The hidden box contains a journal and a rubber stamp. The journal is provided so that you can record your visit there and see who else has been there…a guest book really. Then you bring your own journal and a rubber stamp and ink pad. You use the box’s stamp to mark your own journal so you know you’ve been to that particular location…like a passport. You use your own stamp to mark the box’s journal. We went to Burrage Pond near our home and there were supposed to be four boxes but the boxes had been removed for the winter and not yet replanted. We had fun trying to locate them anyway. It was a beautiful day and a great walk. Here are some pictures from that day.

We did go out for ice cream afterwards which made the afternoon even more fun.
Wednesday we headed up to Rockport, MA which is so stunningly beautiful. It is the home of Motif 1 which is pictured below and is the most often painted building in America.

We went with my mom and had a nice lunch at Red Skiff’s and then walked through the shops and spent some time looking out at the water. Sadly, today on the news a 2 year old girl has gone missing from the beach in Rockport. Prayers are needed for this little girl’s return home.

On a lighter note, we had some fun playing with my macro lens. My daughter took some photos and I did too and here is what we got. Lindsey took the first one, I took the second. We took a lot more but I don’t have time today to load them all up!

And last night and today I did a bit of this on the apple core quilt…

So today we are back to some music lessons and hopefully more work on the apple core quilt!
Have a super day!

    • Thanks Shari! So far it has been a fun experience. I am about half way through sewing apple cores into rows. I am interested in seeing how the rows fit together and I’ll post about that part when I get there…hopefully soon!
