Turning Over A New Leaf

I’ve been on a leaf kick this week as I finished up a leaf collage. The leaf came from my backyard tree a few weeks ago and I’m sorry to say that tree is now bare. It seems so sad but that is how the beauty of living in a four season state plays out, lol!

For this collage I swapped out the green grass in the background for a solid black and a thin gold frame.

Over the last few months I’ve been creating a few different collages. The pumpkin one has been of interest to many and I offered two workshops last month so that students could play with the technique themselves. They learned how to select a photo, turn it into a sketch, audition fabric, create the collage, and make a grand finish!

Here are some fabulous examples of their work…

Today I began printing photos and auditioning fabric for a poinsettia collage. I can’t wait to start in on it!

I’m learning that my favorite way to create these is to set a timer for an hour and work on it for that hour then take a good break. While you can do these sitting down, it is a lot of hunching over!

I’ve turned the workshop into an ebook and that will be available on November 20th for anyone who wasn’t able to attend the workshop and would like to try these at home! You can get more information by joining the newsletter. You can sign up on the top, right side of the screen.

What are you all working on this month?
