Finding The Quilting Mojo Again…

quilt

What a crazy few weeks this has been! We helped my mom move out of her home of 55 years and into a beautiful over 55 community just 6 minutes from my house! I’m elated to have her so close now. She was an hour away from us and it’s just so fun to pop over there and spend time helping her set up a new home…especially the sewing room! I’m also having a bunch of fun hanging out with my sister as she has been here many days also and she normally lives 2 hours away!!!! Here we are saying goodbye to our old home!

While we moved my mom into the new place, Leah was having an adventure of her own…in France!

She went on a school trip over April vacation and she had the time of her life. She ended up being one of the last tour groups in Notre Dame before it caught fire. She was able to tour and take photos and about an hour afterwards, the flames broke out. While that was sad, the rest of the trip was amazing including seeing the Eiffel Tower, the catacombs, Versailles, Loire Valley, Giverny Gardens, the Louvre, and many other sites. She’s a lucky girl!

Our Step Into Your Art challenge is under way for April. This month’s theme is the color yellow and the challenge is to use the color wheel and create a piece using a monochromatic, complementary, triadic, analogous, or a split complementary theme. I chose to paint my fabric in a split complementary theme and then use freezer paper applique to make a small wall hanging.

The paints I used were Dynaflow and the fabric was a cotton sateen. I had fun painting and I’d definitely try it again.

I’m in the process of making a baby quilt for a customer with a grey and yellow theme. I’ve created a new pattern and I’m excited to finish this up and then offer the pattern in my Etsy store. The top is nearly complete but I have some really cute applique to go on it and it might just have to do with bunnies!

What have you all been up to this month? I’d love to hear about your projects!

  1. You have had more outside the studio going on than in… Someday I will make a mess! I am hoping the next house has an area I can use for dying or wet work that is not in my studio. An interesting thing about the quilt… I have something very similar going on!!! but absolutely no bunny!!!.

    • It definitely feels like more is going on outside the studio! It’s a busy season of life for us and I’m trying to remain somewhat consistent in my quilting efforts but it doesn’t always work out, lol! An area for dyeing would be sooooooo great! I hope you can make that happen!
Thanks for stopping by the blog!
