Welcoming Spring With Special Projects!

Tomorrow is spring and I couldn’t be happier! I am so done with old man winter! Last week I had a special mail delivery. My Farm Fresh Bed Runner made its way home from Annie’s Publishing. It was included in a special interest publication called Farm House Style Quilts.

This was a project I was working on in the fall but I couldn’t reveal what it was until now! It should be available in your favorite quilt store now.

On Saturday I finished up quilting Sharyn’s Jacob’s Ladder. It was a joy to quilt and she did a fantastic job piecing this during our summer quilt a long. Aren’t the colors rich and beautiful?

Last week I was working on a quilt for Lindsey. For her graduation party we had our guests sign charm squares of Kona fabric with a message to wish her well at the University of Vermont. I’ve pieced all the blocks pieced and now I need to sew the blocks into rows and put a nice gold border around the edge.

I joined Bluprint last month and took a thread painting class that I really just loved!! I tried my hand at it working off a photo of our bunny, Nala. I’m super happy with how it came out.

Next I want to thread paint a photo of Greg and I from three years ago in Disney World. So you know I had to order a bunch of flesh colored thread from Aurifil!

This is the photo I’ll be using…

I’m looking forward to starting this next week.

My favorite part of last week was having all the girls home for spring break! We had a huge milestone to celebrate and after a week of illness, we rallied and celebrated in style!

Our celebratory dinner has been a long awaited event to mark the end of a genetic disorder (Oligodontia) that caused all three girls to collectively be missing 39 second teeth. Since the girls were a very young age we have spent a considerable amount of time at the dentist, orthodontist, cosmetic dentist, and oral surgeon. It’s been a long haul fraught with tears and some real lows. It’s been an expensive ordeal as well since our insurance didn’t cover any of the work citing a missing tooth exclusion. We had been discussing how best to celebrate for about a year and the girls decided they wanted to have a dinner at Ruth’s Chris Steak House in Boston! Leah finished her treatment in February and we made our reservation for spring break when Amanda and Lindsey would be home too. We had a delicious meal and enjoyed every minute with each other.

Today I had a paper piecing workshop at the house and I will post more on that in a few days!
