I wrapped up fusing the applique on the watercolor nativity quilt yesterday afternoon. I like the way it’s coming together and now that the tiny pieces are finished (either by omission or just plain being done), I am really excited once again to work on this project. I decided that I will paint the faces and beards. The pattern has tiny applique’ beards and eyes but I think I can do a better job with textile paints and small brush…at least I THINK I can! Here is the latest picture of the progress. My next step is to quilt this and I think I’ll do some straight stitch around the applique’s and maybe a stipple over the background. Once it’s quilted, I’ll do the painting.
More next time…

I have this watercolor kit! You have inspired me to finish it…this year. I only have the back ground sewn together. I like your idea of painting the facial features on.
