Hey Everyone!!!
I’m so glad you are here and welcome to my blog stop for 100 Blocks Volume 15!
My block is #1401 and it is called Bunny Love! I made this block using a fusible applique technique. I LOVE fusible applique! It’s so easy and fun.
Here is the block…
Do you ever wonder where people get their inspiration from when they are designing a block or a quilt? I wonder all the time but for me, the inspiration came from our two adorable Lionhead bunnies. Meet Nala and Daisy…
These two cuties bring sunshine into our lives every day. I never thought I’d be a bunny person until they came home from the 4H Fair with us. We brought Nala home two years ago (she’s on the left) and Daisy, one year ago. Daisy is actually partially blind but she gets around our living room just fine. We had never seen bunnies that looked like this before and right away, they stole our hearts.
When I was thinking about a design to submit, the bunnies came right to mind. Here are a few pictures of the process I use when creating a block.
First I like to sort through my stash and figure out which colors will go best for my design…
I use paper backed fusible web to trace the pattern and then fuse it to my fabrics…
I arrange the fabric pieces in a way I find pleasing and then I fuse them to the background…
A favorite way of mine to secure the edges of the applique to the background is to use the blanket stitch. I adore the blanket stitch!!
I hope you’ll get a chance to make this block! It’s a fun one and would be great as a pillow, tote, or kid’s quilt!
I have a copy of QuiltMaker’s 100 Blocks to give away to one lucky winner. I’ll choose a name randomly from the comment section once the blog tour is over. Just tell me your favorite method of applique and if you’d like to, please follow me on Facebook or Instagram. My Instagram is @quiltcabana.

I adore your bunny. Thanks for sharing your inspiration. I think inspiration is difficult for many crafters. Either we have few ideas or we are so confused with a plethora of them. The real bunnies are adorable and the bunny block will be a great memory. My favorite applique method is needle turn and I usually resort to fusible because of ease and time constraints. I am not proficient at needle turn yet and get easily frustrated when I don’t attain my expected result.
Thanks for a wonderful post and block!
I love the fusible applique as well. I have done needle turn and it looks nice in certain situations but i also cross stitch so I like to leave my handwork time to embroidery or cross stitch projects.
I prefer the fusible web method of applique. I’m just too impatient to do needle turn!
The fusible technique is the way to go for me. I guess that I am too impatient to do needle turn.
Such a cute block! Thanks also for sharing the process! I love needleturn applique the most. But every way is fin for me. Just love the special touch applique gives to a project!
Cute bunny! I don’t do a lot of applique, and just recently tried fusible for the first time. I don’t have decorative stitches on my machine (just straight stitch and zigzag)–I really like the blanket stitch you used.
I’ve never heard of a lionhead bunny but they are adorable! We had two bunnies and never realized how much fun they are other than the chewed cords 🙂
I do my applique the same way you did, fusible and blanket stitch.
I’ve only done a little applique , Dresden plates count, right? maybe that should be my next challenge. I have friends that this is their favorite, but just haven’t been inspired enough yet. These bunnies are adorable.
Fusible applique is my favorite, but I didn’t like it much until I got a new machine with a blanket stitch. Those bunnies are really cute!
What a darling block! I applique with a zigzag satin stitch.
Your bunny block is adorable. Raw-edge applique is my favorite.
Bunny Love is adorable! It would be perfect for a child or baby quilt. I prefer fusible applique with a buttonhole stitch around the outside edge.
That is the cutest block! I have tried applique but I like the way you described to us and using the blanket stitch. I just need a little more practice but your inspiration really helps – a lot. Thank you for being a part of QM’s 100 Blocks and giving me the chance to win this awesome magazine.

Your bunny is so cute! I love bunnies too. Thank you for sharing and for the giveaway.
My favorite method for applique is needle turn hand applique. Although every once in a while I want to finish a block quickly so I will use a fusible and do it on the machine.
Your Bunny Love block is adorable. I mostly do needle turn applique but do machine blanket stitch too. Thanks for the neat block and the chance to win.
Right now I most often do stitch and flip appliqué with fusible web or just plain old fusible web appliqué, but I’m about to start a needle turn appliqué project and I think I’ll enjoy it.
Really cute bunny! I like the speed of fusible applique and lots of fun designs.
I like quick fusible machine applique and the freezer paper method for hand applique. I’m not that great at either one though yet 😉 Your bunny block is adorable as are your little fur creatures!
I use fusible applique by machine using a blanket stitch, zig zag or satin stitch, this is fast and I have good results 🙂 Your bunny inspiration is great! And both real and applique bunnies are cute 🙂 Thank you for sharing your inspiration to block method!
our bunny block is adorable,, but the real guys are precious! thanks for sharing with us
I’ve tried needle-turn applique, but I was not very good at it and not willing to practice to get better. I love using my machine for everything, so I’m a dedicated machine applique-er!
Adorable bunny, I use fusible for my appliqué, and the blanket stitch adds that extra nice old fashioned outline. Thanks for giveaway.
I hand applique while hubby watches TV at night. It is relaxing and I have something to use and enjoy, long after the movie is over.
That bunny makes me smile! I usually do needle turn applique, but fusible is a wonderful time saver!
I use fusible applique along with a blanket stitch or a zigzag stitch. I love that bunny and this is the first time I’ve seen lionhead bunnies. They are darling.
For kid’s quilts, I like the blanket stitch, but for fancy little-washed quilts and wallhangings, I’ll do needleturn. Thanks for sharing your real and quilted bunnies.
Your bunny is darling! I will use fusible applique for your kind of block.
Needle-turn applique is my favorite. Cute bunny and great for a spring project.
Cute Bunny!!!
I like to applique with hand and sometimes with the machine Using the blanket stitch
Your bunnies are beautiful and your bunny block is adorable! I’ve not done much applique, but I do like fusible applique.
Do fusible applique. Use machine blanket stitch. Not to excited about hand stitching.
I love your bunny block!
I’ve only tried fusible applique
I have done quite a bit of applique.. no the best of all worlds needle turn is so much fun. but if I need to get it done (most of the time) I do fusible…
Fusible/blanket stitch applique is my go-to method. Mostly used on small quilts and table runners.
I like the detail and finish of needle turn applique, and have ventured to try fusible, and fmq applique.
I do applique just like you do. Fusible with a blanket stitch. The thread color either matches or coordinates, as the design calls to me.
The applique technique I choose really depends on what I’m making. Raw edge, fusible with a straight stitch is quick and easy for things like wall hangings that won’t get lots of laundering.
I usually use fusible interfacing and machine button hole stitch
congratulations. your bunny is just too adorable. I don’t applique yet. it is on my do learn list for this year. I will have to do this bunny now. I follow you on instagram
I like the fusible web style too!
Your bunny is really cute. I usually do fusible applique with a blanket stitch or straight stitch. Thanks for sharing.
Lionhead bunnies! Who knew? They are absolutely precious–and so is your bunny applique. I’m lazy about applique and do a zigzag machine stitch usually.
Your bunnies are so cute! A great inspiration for your block. I like to machine applique when I can, but sometimes hand applique with the blanket stitch just calls for it! Thank you, Susan
I love fusible machine applique and use it all the time for small projects. Congrats on your block and thanks for sharing.
I haven’t done much applique. I have tried the needle turn method.
My favorite method of appliqué is fusible. I love the look of needle turn also but it takes too long to finish.
My favorite method is fusible web applique. I have not been very successful at needle turn. My machine doesn’t do blanket stitch, so I use a close zigzag.
With my new machine I can finally attempt fusible/blanket stitch applique. I’ve been practicing on a block of the week quilt.
Your bunnies are soooo cute! All three of them. ;o)
I just appliqued for the first time a few month ago and used your method. Very easy!
What an adorable block! Fusible web applique is the only applique I have tried. Thanks for sharing.
I’m not very experienced with applique. I usually go with fusible web and zig zag edge finishing. However, I recently took a class about Hawaiian Quilting and I actually enjoyed doing needle-turn.
Love the bunny block! It’s so cute! I like doing applique in the embroidery mode.
Heat and bond featherweight is my go-to fusible. Applique is not my favorite thing to do so I need something I can count on lasting until I get the blanket stitching done!
For applique I like to fuse the design then use blanket stitch to finish the edges.
Your bunnies are super cute (both the live ones and the appliqued ones.) I too love the blanket stitch. I think it gives the cleanest edge. It is slow going sometimes, but worth it in the end. Thank you for sharing your block.
I like needle turn appliqué for special projects, but I like fusible web appliqué for quilts that will be washed a lot. Congratulations on having your block in this issue.
I do needle turn, since I’m sensitive to the fused medium..Most contain gluten.)Congrats on your block for the new issue. Volume 15!! Where did the time go!! Congrats again!
Fusible is it for me. I have too many quilts I want to make and fusible goes quickly.
Your bunny is very cute. I enjoy other people’s applique blocks, but don’t really enjoy appliqueing myself.
Love your inspirational house bunnies! I usually use blanket stitch for applique. I love the way it looks.
Cute bunny! I always try to live by Thumper’s advice “say something nice”. My appliqué skills are still developing, but I’ve become a fan of fused machine-appliqué. I also taught myself Hawaiian-style hand appliqué in the last few years, and I love it. I’m also self-taught with fusible Celtic bias appliqué–more to learn, but I love it!

I don’t do much applique, but I lean toward fusible machine applique when I do.
I do not do applique very often. However, when I do I use the fusible method and machine applique.
Cute block & cute bunnies. Fusible machine applique is my choice. Thanks.
I am working on a quilt (a couple years in the works) using blanket stitch, hand sewn. It is an enjoyable process, I just need to find more time. Thank you.
I don’t do much applique; but, when I do, it’s usually fusible applique and stitching by hand. By the way, cute bunny block!
I like raw edge appliqué. Fusible with machine stitched edges

Love your bunnies – very cute! I like freezer paper applique for smooth edges!
I can’t wait to try this – need to make a pink bunny.
Your bunny block is so cute. I enjoyed the story about your real bunnies in your family! I like to do fusible applique and finish the edges with a blanket stitch.
Cute Block!! I prefer fusible applique and fancy stitch around it.
In the past I have done all types of applique but lately needle turn has been my go to method.
I mostly do fused machine applique with a zigzag or buttonhole stitch. Hand applique is just not for me!
I took classes from two different quilting teachers last year and both used washable glue for applique, followed by blanket stitch. My 25-year-old domestic does zigzag, but not the blanket stitch like I would really like it to.
Cute block, love your bunnies! I like to use a fusible for applique along with a blanket stitch. Thank you for sharing!
I like to use the blanket stitch on fusible machine applique.
Machine love to give this a try L9ve it… happyness04431@yahoo.com
Darling bunny. I like needle turn hand appliqué, but am practicing fusible with machine blanket stitch this summer.
I like to use light weight interfacing with glue on one side so I can turn and make nice circles and edges.
I used to do needle turn but my hands can’t take that any more, so it’s fusible for me. I Like your bunny!
I like the fusible web method of applique. I use a zigzag stitch on the edges. I’ve also used the interfacing method. It gives the look of needle turn without the work!
I use fusible web for my machine applique – Your block is adorable! Congrats!
Cute bunny. I have done applique a couple of different ways. I’ve done it with the fusible and then stitching it down by machine and I have a Hawaiian quilt that I am doing by hand. Using the fusible is certainly faster, but there are days when I just love to sit and hand stitch.
Such a cute bunny! I just learned how to do fusible applique and plan to do more!
I haven’t done much applique yet. But I did try raw edge. Cute bunny pattern!
I like the fusible web method of applique with blanket stitch…marta…martamanole@yahoo.com
I usually use fusible applique. But I take hand turn applique when I’m traveling
Needleturn for sure. What adorable bunnies. I didn’t know they made good house pets….
Your bunny block is adorable! I do both hand and machine applique. I think I prefer machine applique as it gets done more quickly. I also use the blanket stitch. Thanks for a chance to win.
My vote goes to fusible applique – so quick and easy!
I love doing needle turn applique but have started doing more fusible and machine applique as time is too limited!
What a cute bunny both the live ones and the amazing block! Applique isn’t my favorite techique but I am current working on a BOM that uses this technique and I love Lite Steam-A-Seam to make my applique stick waiting for my buttonhole stitch to finish the block. You can even show this old gal new tricks. Thank you so much for sharing.
Your fluffy bunnies are so cute. I have a friend who keeps her two bunnies in a basement bedroom because they gnaw on everything. They have quite the set up! Love your little bunny block.
Cute block! I mean, whose doesn’t love bunnies? My favorite method of appliqué is freezer paper hand appliqué.
Your bunnies are adorable…all three of them. I also applique with paper backed fusable web. I like to free motion stitch around the border rather than blanket stitch. It’s just a little faster and easier to get all the little points for me.
I like raw edged fusible applique
What a cute bunny!
Love fusible applique and using the blanket stitch.
I really like to applique using all methods depending on whether I want a hand project or not. I usually ave too many quilts I want to make though, so my most used applique technique is fusible with a blanket stitch
Being relatively new to the quilting world, I have only tried needle turn applique. Cute block!
Love the bunny block, and your bunnies. Thanks for sharing your talent! Would love to be a winner
I have done both needle turn and machine applique–also a combination of fusible and hand stitching. Very cute bunny block!!

Needle turn!
I usually do fusible applique. I’m quite late joining in the hop but i’m enjoying all the blogs. Thx for participating.
Love your bunnies- somehow I always get challenged with the fusible applique. but doing it in a workshop is fun.
Adorable bunny. I prefer fuseable don’t have the patience for needleturn.. 🙂
Fusible, machine appliqué is my favorite
Fusible machine appliqué is what I prefer right now.
