Happy Thursday!

So the kids have been out of school for a little over a week.  The first few days I didn’t get anything quilt related accomplished as we were  preparing for their annual music school show.  The show was great and the kids won lots of awards.  It was a long  but fulfilling night!  The past 4 days, I have been getting up early and heading to the sewing room.  I’m working on a table runner using log cabin frames.  Somehow I cut all 297 patches 1/8″ too big!!!  That set me back a few hours as I carefully trimmed all the edges down to the proper measurement.

Yesterday while I was at Walmart, I came across a cute shirt pattern for $2.  I haven’t sewn a garment in awhile (never mind one for myself) so I picked it up.  I found some pretty blue calico fabric to make it with.  This morning I washed the fabric and maybe tonight I’ll get to cutting the pattern out.  Here is a photo of the pattern and fabric.

I’m hoping to continue to get in my quilting in the morning as the rest of the day seems to be filled with swimming and sleepovers….Ahhhh summer time!

I did just order Marie Bostwick’s first book in her quilting series.  The name of it is A Single Thread.  It looks very good and I can’t wait to start it.  I’m looking forward to a lighter read as I just finished Cutting For Stone.  That was a fabulous book!!  Have you read it?

Other than that, I’m still waiting on my labels from the Benjamin Smiles project and then I will set to work on a travel size pillow for the Ronald McDonald Houses as mentioned in the last podcast.

Don’t forget to order your copy of my book, Little Quilts for Big Occasions.  You can get it on my Etsy site www.quiltcabanapatterns.etsy.com

or you can order directly from me.  The book is also in stores and on Amazon although out of stock at the moment there.

Later this week, I’ll be doing a midyear check to see how my quilty goal list is going….how is yours going?
