Thankful Thursday

I love Thursday. I don’t know why but I suspect it has to do with not having to drive anyone to school or pick anyone up from school as the schedules allow for taking the bus on this day. I also love that the first extracurricular activity doesn’t take place until 5pm. That means we do need to eat dinner at 4:15 but that’s ok.

Today I am thankful for my mom, dad and sister. Although my dad is no longer here with us, it’s little reminders like this gem that take me back to our family home circa late 1970’s, early 1980’s.

Can any of you say that you have one of these babies in your possession??? I was on the treadmill last week and I looked over to the side of the basement and there was my “award” for being the best sister, daughter, the easiest to fight with and the most loved. What an enormous honor to have received that award from some of my very favorite people in the universe. I love that it says “easiest to fight with.”

What I love even more is that if you look closely, there is my dad’s handwriting under that piece of torn off tape.

I imagine that as the younger daughter, I was complaining about not being loved or feeling special or some kind of craziness like that. The ones that love me decided to fix that and present this award to me. I hope I felt as special then as do I now looking back at that award.

Thank you, family, for being the best family. Ever.

What are you thankful for today?
