I don’t know about you but I think September has lasted all of ten minutes! There have been so many projects and I’ve been blissfully busy teaching and quilting. I love the fall feel in the air but I’m not big on the sun setting so early. I miss daylight lasting until 8pm or after!
It’s been a weird fall with only one kid home! Two empty bedrooms upstairs threatens to overwhelm me from time to time but thankfully I have daughters who call and text multiple times a day. I love that. I especially love when they send me memes that say things like, ‘In high school I didn’t want to text my mom but in college, I text her to tell her what shade of green the grass is at my school’! I’m happy to report both girls are doing well at the University of New Hampshire and the University of Vermont. And…now Leah is looking at schools to visit as she’s in her junior year of high school. I just booked her first tour at Curry College.
In quilty news, I’ve been busy finishing up a t-shirt quilt for my mother in law and a project for a magazine that I can’t show yet. I’m about to begin an art quilt and I have several quilts to long arm for customers.
Today I had several students over as we continued with our Jacob’s Ladder Quilt A Long. We were missing Nancy and Priscilla today but the rest of us were able to meet and we got quite a bit done.
Sharyn and Eileen were steadily working away…
Gail had to overcome a little machine trouble but then she was able to get a good start on her blocks…
We took some progress photos to share…these beautiful fall blocks belong to Sharyn…
The gorgeous blues and cream are Eileen’s…
And the blueberry colors are mine…
Gail’s will be in striking Christmas colors…
Most of these quilts will be 30 blocks so we still have a way to go. Our intended finish date is next month but we might have to push it out a bit because in addition to these beauties we are all working on other projects.
Eileen just finished this awesome quilt top and I’ll be long arming it for her…
And Sharyn finished a lovely four patch lattice quilt. I didn’t get a finished picture of it today with her beautiful borders but this is one from last week when she was beginning to stitch blocks into rows…
What are you all working on? Do you have a favorite technique or quilt size to make? I’d love to hear about it.
Sandi
One response to “So Where Did September Go?”
Jacob’s Ladder is one of my favorite blocks! I love those versions of it—hadn’t thought of doing one in Christmas colors. That would be a nice holiday bed quilt. I’ll add that to my wish-list of future projects!
