Back From Vacation!

After a wonderful week in San Diego and then a short trip to visit my mom, I am back home!  The laundry is piled high and we are expecting bad weather from Hurricane Irene but that’s ok – I’m happy to  be home again getting ready for school to start and quilt work to begin!  Yesterday we went to get the girls their new parakeets as promised before vacation!  We have a green one named Kiwi and a blue one named Barney.  They seem to like their new home and are making the adjustment slowly but surely.

I did manage to get to a quilt shop in San Diego.  I went to the Quilt Coop in Old Town Temecula and it was a fabulous store!  They had loads of fabric and notions.  I could have spent all day in there but as luck would have it for my family, the store was closing shortly after I arrived!

Tuesday we took our 3rd annual trip to Keepsake Quilting in Center Harbor, NH.  I drove my girls, mother, aunt, and cousin to Center Harbor.  The store was just as lovely as I remember.  They carry bolt after bolt of beautiful fabric.  They do have notions but they are primarily into the fabrics and kits.  I did notice that some of the fabrics were well over $11 per yard and I find it hard to believe they will be able to go much higher before the quilting world decides we can’t afford to shop at the specialty stores.  I purchased fabric for an apple core quilt that I’m dying to make and I also took home that watercolor nativity quilt that I mentioned a few posts ago.

So this week I’ll be getting my home back in order, next week the girls start school for a few days and I’ll get back to work!

Enjoy these last few days of summer!

  1. Hi Sandi

Up here in Canada, we routinely pay between $12 and $15 / metre (which is 39 inches). The price has been up to $19 / metre, depending on the exchange rate with the US.
So when I visit the US, I snap up the fabric. I hadn’t seen it at $11, but I’ve bought lots at $10! It’s a bargain to me.
