The weekend was beautiful and Greg and I were lucky to be in one of the most beautiful spots around…Newport, RI. We attended a wedding on Friday night for one of Greg’s former co-workers. We had lots of fun exploring Newport with all of its restaurants and shops. I absolutely loved the centerpieces and the nautical knot table number holder…there’s a mouthful. Isn’t it elegant?

I picked up this little book in one of the shops and I didn’t put it down until I finished reading it.

It’s a lovely book about the importance of the handwritten note and has all kinds of advice for writing them and using proper note etiquette. I don’t know why I’m drawn to books about writing so much. This one fascinated me so beware, you may receive a handwritten note from me soon!

On Sunday I had the pleasure of meeting fellow quilter and Twilter, Kim. We made plans to attend the Herring Run Quilt Guild’s show in a neighboring town. Kim, my mother and I had a great time looking at the beautiful quilts and shopping the vendor area. Kim’s sister, Karen, was a vendor there and I had a chance to discover her awesome patterns. In fact, my mother purchased my favorite one for me as a gift. The pattern is pictured below. If you are in the Berkshire area, Karen and her business partner run several retreats a year. Check them out at www.berkshirequilts.com. The website has the retreat info as well as the patterns they sell.

In addition to the pattern, I picked up some much needed Auriful thread in navy, red and light gray.

I was hoping to win the raffle basket that contained 116 fat quarters but it turned out Kim’s sister won it!! Yay for Karen!

Hope your Monday is shaping up to be a good one. Tomorrow’s post will be my Banned Book Challenge quilt reveal!

  1. Looks like a beautiful wedding–and I love Newport. Gorgeous all around! The pattern is pretty too. And gee, a retreat in the Berkshires? Sounds like a potential meet-up for all us northeastie Twilters!

  2. I was in the mood for a quilt show myself so I drove to Norwood on Saturday. And I bought the same pattern! Actually, I bought the kit. I think I’ll make it for my sister-in-law as a Christmas gift.
