Welcome To My Day On The Blog Tour!!!

I’m so thrilled to once again be part of QuiltMaker’s 100 Blocks Blog Tour! I’d like to extend a big hello and welcome to everyone who stops by this week! Hard to believe this is my 5th time!

My block can be found on page 10. It is called Sunflower Dance.

This is a fusible applique block that is quick, easy and versatile! I think sunflowers are amazing. They grow so tall and beautiful. I thought it would be fun to turn this block into a table runner that can be enjoyed year round. I made the same block but in different colors and paired it with Cross Roads blocks to get this….

And a few closeups…

My process for designing is quite simple. I like to have a sketch to work from that I’ve drawn by hand and then I use cardstock to make templates for my appliques. I use paperbacked fusible web to adhere the appliques to the project and then I finish the appliques with blanket stitching.

  1. I love purple coneflowers! Love the colors you used in your table runner! I’m currently finishing up a quilt for my niece who is getting married next month, and then need to finish a quilt for my son who is graduating from high school next month.

  2. My favorite summer flowers are daylilies. Right now I’m working on piecing some flowers that will go on the back of a quilt for my granddaughter.

  3. My flower is the wild rose, and am working on two different quilts to replace the tied whole cloth ones my grandmother made. They are showing wear and want to replace with my work on the bunk beds my grands sleep in when here.

  4. Very cute! My favorite summer flower is gerber daisies. Several years ago I had some gorgeous orange ones! I just finished piecing a quilt back this morning so I will soon start the quilting on that quilt. And I’m starting on blocks for a child’s quilt with puppies on it.

  5. Your block is so fun & happy – I love it! My favorite flowers are daisies. I’m working on a table runner right now and in the process of choosing fabrics for a journal cover for my little nephews birthday this weekend, and for floor pillows for my 2 oldest grandbabies who will be off to college in the fall! Thanks for the chance to win 🙂
