My Favorites From A Quilter’s Gathering Show

Happy Monday!
How was your weekend? I hope it was fun and spent creatively! On Saturday I headed up to Manchester, NH to A Quilter’s Gathering quilt show. It’s a good size quilt show that attracts some awesome teachers such as Kimberly Einmo and Esterita Austin. I wasn’t able to attend classes but I did get to walk the show and explore the vendors. The quilts were gorgeous and I limited my photo taking to the ones that I absolutely adored. I didn’t get close ups of the cards that went along with the quilts as my iphone was running out of memory. I think I just got one closeup. You’ll have to enlarge the photos to see all the words, sorry. I also didn’t take photos of the items I purchased because I didn’t buy very much and what I did purchase was mainly zippers…yep, exciting stuff. I’ll be vending a craft fair in December so my main goal was to walk around the vendors and see how quilt samples were hung and displayed in the vendor booths. I also wanted to pick up information on upcoming shows to vend at and leave my own information on my lecture and trunk show. I was very excited at the end of the day to run into Lori Kay who listens to the podcast and lives in my old hometown. Lori, if you’re reading, it was so very nice to meet you!

So here are my favorite quilts of the day…

Seriously, how gorgeous?

Loved the color on this one…there’s something so nice about a red quilt.

The very lovely Martha’s Vineyard Illusions quilt by my friend and guild mate, Pat Delaney…If you’ve ever visited Martha’s Vineyard you may have walked through that section where the little cottages look like gingerbread houses. This reflects the trim of those houses.

This one was so cool. It’s called Pan Blackened Applique and the card says it is put together the Maine way of making each block like a potholder, so each one is completely made, quilted and BOUND and then the blocks are whip-stitched together. Love this….want to try it.

Ok, my absolute favorite of the show…bum bum bum (that’s my trumpeting)…

This is Fir Tree Tangle which is done with Zentangle stitching! It’s red and white which happens to be my new favorite color combo, apparently. I LOVE THIS SO MUCH. I went back to look at it several times. It’s done whole cloth and she painted the red outlines. I think I like this so much because it’s do-able. It’s a fairly easy concept that we can all create and have it be uniquely our own. That’s the beauty of Zentangle. I wanted to run home and start doodling with the books I purchased last year to make some Zentangle doodles.

Do any of these inspire you?
