Throwback Thursday

Quiltin Jenny

Today’s Throwback Thursday project was one of my very first quilting endeavors. I was so very pleased with myself for having succeeded in making this Log Cabin sewing machine cover that I made one for my mother as well!

The one I made for my mother was blue and yellow.

The pattern came from this book that I used to teach myself to quilt.

I think I purchased it at Walmart and I made several projects from it. I decided in 2004 that I would learn to quilt and along with this book, I purchased fabric, batting, needles, a rotary cutter, cutting mat and curved safety pins. I’m 99% sure the book came from Walmart and the other supplies from Joann’s. I remember an employee there showing me around the store to the various items that a new quilter would need. I’d say she done good!

Sadly, this sewing machine cover doesn’t fit my new machine but it was fun to pull it out today and have a look at my handiwork from quite a few years ago.

Do you have any throwback projects to share? I’m linking up with Quiltin’ Jenny and Ozzypip today.

  1. So impressed that you jumped into quilting with a book from WalMart. And, yes, you’ve come a long way! Don’t you sometimes wish you could go back in time to those moments and thank the random strangers who helped us on the right path?

    Thanks for linking up!
