Monday, Monday

So the weekend was a really busy one with the quilt show going on.  This was Quilter’s Connection’s 34th annual show.  The guild has 400 members and some are international.  It was a wonderful show with over 170 quilts, each more beautiful and unique than the next.  I took a lot of pictures but everyone there had to sign a release that we wouldn’t publish them so with the exception of my own quilt and my mom’s I can’t put them up 🙁    However…the show organizers do eventually publish all the quilts on the website and I can put up the link when I see the quilt pics are up.

My mom and I both worked at the show.  I white gloved while my mom did a few other jobs as well as white gloving.  She worked the gate and she also sold raffle tickets for the whole cloth quilt that was hand quilted by members.  There was also a very nice boutique filled with all kinds of unique hand made gifts.  My book was also there for sale and the ladies in the boutique felt I should autograph them, so I did!  I can’t wait for the show next year!

My mom’s quilt was “A Whimsical Look Below The Sea”.  She spent many hours beading the outlines of the fish and embellishing them.  You can’t see that from the photo here but it was so beautiful with all those beads on there.  My quilt was the photo quilt of my daughter, Leah, in the pumpkin patch near our home.  I received a lot of compliments on it so I was happy with it.  I was white gloving near the quilt and thought to myself, ‘you really shouldn’t stand near your own quilt during a show’.  Just as I thought that I did overhear a woman say that she felt I should have sent the photo out to be printed through a service on a large piece of fabric to avoid the “seams” down the middle.  It was constructive criticism and a great idea.  I had printed the photo tiled on four sheets of fabric paper and seamed them because that’s how I learned how to do it but if I could find somewhere to print on fabric that large, I would do it!

That’s it for today.  I’m still working on the orange twist block table runner as well as many other projects…sock knitting, hexagons and embroidery…I’ll never finish it all but that’s ok.  Summer is almost here and every minute feels like it counts.  We had kids in the pool all day yesterday which means my husband mows and I lifeguard!  I’ll have to bring my projects out to the pool, I guess.

More later this week when “the book” arrives!  I’m trying to update my Etsy store and online shop for the books to be sold.  If you know you want a book, let me know and I’ll put one aside for you…shoot me a comment here or an email at sewsandi8@yahoo.com
