Thanksgiving Chocolate Pie

Thanksgiving is almost here which means my mom and I are busy making pies today. We will work on apple pies and chocolate pies. This chocolate pie recipe was one that my cousin, Allison, used to make and bring to holiday gatherings. We always called it Allison’s Chocolate Pie. I was tweeting about it yesterday and a few people have requested the recipe…so here goes.

Allison’s Chocolate Truffle Pie

2 ready made chocolate cookie pie crusts
1 envelope of unflavored gelatin
1/2 cup water
3 1-oz semi sweet chocolate squares (melted in the microwave and cooled)
1 14-oz can of sweetened condensed milk
1 tsp. vanilla extract
2 cups of heavy or all purpose cream, whipped until stiff

In small sauce pan, sprinkle gelatin over the water and let stand for 1 minute. Cook it over low heat until gelatin dissolves. Cool.

In large mixing bowl, beat the chocolate with the sweetened condensed milk until smooth.

Stir in the gelatin and water mix and the vanilla.

Fold the above into the whipped cream.

Pour into pie crusts. Refrigerate over night or at least three hours.

Top with canned whip cream. Makes two 9″ pies.

Enjoy!
