Workin’ On It Wednesday

Well, hello there.  Has everyone recovered from the holiday weekend? I think I’m just about there but the frigid temps here after the 55 degree weather is bringing me down considerably.  My home is my work space and there’s only so much tea I can drink to keep warm!!  Bring on the spring…for real this time.

It’s Wednesday again…here’s the run down.

I worked on Sashiko but not enough to warrant taking another photo of it.

I went to the church group this morning but I had nothing to show for my week because I was too busy getting ready for this…

I finished project #10 and started project #11. This means nothing to you, I realize, but I don’t want you to think I did nothing all week! LOL.

I finished the music school quilt.
Here is the front…not a great photo but I was too lazy to take one quilt down off the wall to hang another.

This is a closer view. I love the black fabric with the G clef. It is also the backing fabric. Here you can see that I had cut the six panels, fused and blanket stitched around them. Originally I windowed the fusing thinking I might meander over the whole quilt and I didn’t want too much fusible getting in the way. I ended up not meandering over the whole thing but more in between the panels and as a result, the panels are a bit puffy.

This will be raffled at the music show at the end of the year.

My mom came down for Easter and lookie what she was working on! Yes, my Comin’ Down The Chimney quilt that was in McCall’s in December…nice job, mother!

Notice the lovely framed sloth on my mantle. Amanda was unhappy with her school photo and has replaced herself with this sloth. On April Fool’s Day I came home to 9, yes nine, other slothy photos around my home. Not quite the 8×10 size but they were everywhere. I’ll be happy when the sloth fetish is over.

I ordered and received my Angelina fibers and took the butterfly photo to the next step. I traced the main lines of the photo onto muslin with a permanent marker. Next I will paint it…in my mind, the Angelina will come into play with the butterfly. This might be a bust but at least it will be different and fun.

Speaking of different and fun…have you listened to the newest podcast from across the pond? Carolyn Clark has a lovely new quilting podcast out and it’s debuting today! Here is the podbean feed for it…

The BBQ stands for Bashful British Quilter.

I believe that is it for now. What’s happening in your quilty world today?
