Just in time to give as a Christmas gift, I finished the table topper! I have truly enjoyed my first adventure with EPP (English Paper Piecing). I also found an interesting website yesterday that specializes in EPP and has lots of paper patterns, notions, and free downloads including a yardage calculator. It is http://www.paperpieces.com. My next project of this type is going to be a vase mat. I really like the idea but I am not sure what I would use for backing on it. I’m thinking possibly felt. If anyone has made a vase mat with hexagons, please share how you back the project.
I hope you all have a wonderful holiday and a happy new year!

Looks very cute! Neat way to accessorize a table topper.
I might quilt mine into a vase mat this weekend so I can start fresh. Will post pictures if I do.
Your finished project is great–such cheery colors. What size blocks did you use to fuse them onto? I just might get brave enough to add a similar table topper to my 2011 goals!
Thanks Katie and Jill! Katie, definitely post pictures so we can see how it comes out. Jill, the blocks were 6.5″ squares. I took a finished hexagon flower and laid it on my ruler to see what size would look best. Once the blocks were all sewn together it looked like a hexagon was needed in the center so I threw one on there (good way to cover up any mismatched seams too…not that we’d have any of those!).
Thank you so much for taking the time to post. I love you hearing from you!
Have a super holiday!
