Monday Ramble

Happy Monday!

I hope everyone had a great weekend…it went too fast for my liking.  I had hoped to work on my nephew’s quilt more than I did but Lindsey was sick with an ear infection and a cold and now I seem to have the cold as well. I did manage to make the hanging sleeve which has been preventing me from forging ahead with the binding. So now that the sleeve is done, I’ll get to the binding sometime this week or this weekend (I hope!).  I might look into purchasing those hanging sleeves that are premade. I have several quilts sitting here that need hanging sleeves and having them on hand would be a good thing!

Last week I ordered some Aurifil from the Quilt Bear but neglected to use the “podcast’ coupon and also failed to realize that had I purchased one more large spool, I could have gotten the 4th free…live and learn, I suppose! There’s always next time….

Thursday night I meant to post these beautiful pictures of the sunset and I completely forgot. The pond is near our home and it was just basking in golden light.  Had I stopped to take the time to snap the photo the first time I drove by, you would see even more of the golden color. Instead, I drove by to do my errand and then stopped on the way home…still pretty though! Amanda hopped out of the car and took the picture on my phone and then her friend who was in the back seat, took a picture of Amanda hamming it up!

So,Lindsey is still home sick with her cold so I’ll work on laundry and maybe some quilting in between hanging out with her. Seems we haven’t a normal or full week of school in so long and this week will be no different! LOL! In fact Leah and Amanda were both wanting to stay home too but they are healthy and so out the door they went. Amanda claimed she had “nothing important” today which cracks me up…I guess school doesn’t rank as that important when you’re 14.

If you have time today, head over to the Sew Excited Quilts blog and see Jackie’s new machine! It’s a beauty! You won’t want to miss it.

The podcast question for this time around is which UFO do you most want to finish this year? Don’t forget to let me know so I can include you in the podcast next week.

If you are looking for a cute winter pattern, here is my Winter Joy table topper/runner pattern on Etsy. It’s one of the first patterns I put out a few years ago.

I think that’s it for today! What are you working on this week?

  1. I suppose I can’t answer “all of them”? I don’t have too many UFOs so I’d really like to clear the decks. The priority is probably the last of my Mom’s UFOs that I’m finishing after her passing–it’s been three years now. I knocked the vast majority of them out in the first 18 months but this one took more work and therefore it’s lingered. I got the center of it done this summer. I just have to get the borders and backing done (already have the fabric), and then I’m going to send it out to a longarmer for quilting. It would probably only take about three hours or so to get it to the point where I can send it out. Frankly, I blame Easy Street for distracting me! I’d like to have that UFO to the longarmer before the end of this month. And, frankly, Easy Street done by the end of the month as well, sigh. Love your podcast! Tell Lindsey I hope she feels better–my husband is also home from work today with a cold. I love him, but I won’t go near him with a 10 foot pole right now–hoping not to catch it myself!

    • Nope! You can’t answer “all of them” but I know what you mean! I think it’s so nice that you are finishing up your mom’s quilts. I am sure that would mean the world to her as no one wants to believe that the quilt work they have labored on will go unfinished. Good for you! You get the “World’s Best Daughter” award today!

  2. I am with Sandy on “all of them” as that is my goal and I want to get started on new ones. Currently I am working on one for Hurricane Sandy, but I won’t be done in time for the deadline. I am sure there is someone it belongs to, I just don’t know who yet. In the meantime, I want to be done with it.

Sorry you have your daughter’s cold, hopefully it will pass quickly.

Thanks for the shout out! 🙂
    Jackie
